Adding business value with great marketing

I really enjoyed a talk by Steve Billingham (the business coach and consultant to IFAs) at a recent IFP branch meeting.

He gave some really useful insights into key factors for building practice value in a post RDR environment.

Music to my ears was that ‘effective marketing process’ was right up there as an important contributor. He said that consolidators are looking for a robust system for bringing new business.

The big question is ‘how does your system stack up? Let me know if we can help you with this key assessment…

Can your customers hear you?

The theme of our next couple of newsletters is ‘building your business voice’ – a really important skill in today’s demanding marketplace.

I hope you find these articles helpful and get you in great shape to take action!

And, for those of you who really want to master this important skill set, you’ll be pleased to hear that I am planning to put together a low-cost online coaching programme which will really put you through your paces and get your skills up to scratch.

More of that to come very shortly…

FREE webinar on regular communications

I’m looking forward to chatting with you at our forthcoming webinar with our guest speaker Martin Bamford of Informed Choice. Perfectly in synch with the theme of this newsletter ‘building your business voice’ Martin is a master communicator. Do join us to see what you could learn.

Communicating regularly is the backbone of effective marketing and is a really important skill in today’s demanding marketplace for several reasons...

Getting your ideas and opinions ‘out there’ - via your blog, your email marketing / newsletters, your social networking strategy – you are feeding Google with what it loves best … NEW content.

When your prospects hear your message from multiple media, they are much more likely to be convinced by what you say.

Your ideas and opinions are what will differentiate you from your competitors.

Plus, it is a vital way of helping you forge better relationships with those oft-forgotten existing customers, as well as your referrer network and strategic alliances.

All very well but, for many, getting started can be a real problem … what to write? … how often?... how to deliver your content? Which is exactly why I wanted to show you that it can be much easier than you imagine to communicate powerfully and purposefully on a regular basis.

We also have a guest speaker, Martin Bamford, of award winning Surrey financial advisers Informed Choice.

Join me on this webinar with Martin. He is a prolific communicator and he and his strategy have been key in creating the dynamic Informed Choice brand.

Martin will be sharing his ideas and experience for creating an optimum communications strategy, maximising leads from the internet and from social networking opportunities, as well as using email marketing effectively.

Getting your message 'out there' as often as possible

Getting your message 'out there' as often as possible

Telling people about what you do and the way that you do it – consistently! This is simply vital in terms of your day-to-day marketing effort.

Here at CProject, I often have conversations with clients where they assure me that they have nothing interesting or compelling to say, or that they don’t have time to write long technical articles, that take an age to research and that they don’t think their clients want to read.

But this is simply missing the point. Yes, your own client list is a very important audience – critical in fact – but it’s not just about them. And we can all find something useful to say with an editorial strategy and some structured planning.

Google understands words, not pictures. And it especially loves new words. So that the more opportunities you have to get your message ‘out there’ the more chances Google has of finding you. Add to that links to broadcasting platforms such as Twitter and Linked in, and suddenly the multipliers are really working for you.

Stuck for what to say? Focus your blog around a theme...

If you are wondering what on earth you would write about in your blog, focusing your content around a theme for a period of, say, one or two months at a time, can have an empowering effect on your blogging skills.

It will make more sense to you and help you focus your thoughts – and hence it will make more sense to your audience.

Using your blog as the basis for a monthly newsletter is a useful structure to ensure that you get 3 or 4 connected articles prepared over the course of a month. And a theme means your newsletter has more purpose and relevance.

It’s exactly what I do here at CProject; for example, this short article is part of a theme called ‘building you business voice’.

Start by brainstorming some themes that you can use over forthcoming months.

Then, using one theme at a time, brainstorm some likely article headings. Don’t think too deeply – just throw ideas on paper and soon you will narrow it down to a handful of concepts that hang together really well and that you’ll feel comfortable coming up with good content.
